My re-telling of Hey Diddle Diddle:

The little brown dog sat cold and alone on a dark gloomy night, feeling isolated and left out. The golden cat was flaunting his gift of playing the fiddle; the dog envied this for he had no talent of his own. The little dog watched the beautiful cow gracefully leap across the silver moon. The dog had no such elegance, he darted about like a boisterous beast crashing into everything in his path. The little brown dog laughed to himself, watching the others have fun. His smile, though, dropped as he realised they were all enjoying themselves without him. More than anything the little brown dog just wanted to be loved, to have someone who accepted him for who he was, just like the dish loves the spoon. Two who could not be more different from one another still found love and escaped for a life of their own; but the dog still remained all on his own.
